  1. Hi,
I am a Costa Rican, currently working for Bank of America.
I would like to know, how much is the total cost of the program?
I can’t spend more than $500, do you have any options for me?
    Thank You.

    1. Hi Rodrigo,

  4. Please send me more information about the accommodations. Are participants in the TEFL program able to utilize homestays as well?

    1. Hello Conor! Thank you for your inquiry.

We offer housing assistance to place students in one of our recommended accommodations. These include options for shared houses, independent apartments, and homestays. Our students have had many positive experiences living with families here in town!

  5. I just graduated from college with a bachelors in psychology. Though I have no education background, can I still take this course, and would it be harder for me to find a job in costa rica after?

    1. Hi Mariel!

Yes, you can still do the course! We do not require any teaching experience. You will complete 10-15 hours of practice teaching while in the course. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and none have had trouble finding work after their certification. For more information or to request an application please email us at

  6. I do not have a college degree. Can I still take the course and will I still be able to find work somewhere in South America?

    1. Yes of course! We do not require a college degree for participation in our TEFL certification course, and all that is required to successfully teach English is the TEFL certificate. We have a number of recent graduates without formal degrees who are now actively teaching in Costa Rica!

      Thank you for your question!

  9. Hi. I’ve recently earned an MFA in Englishm creative writing, am 53 years old, and love travel. My main goal is to teach in Costa Rica until the job market improves in the US , but I also believe I would enjoy Costa Rica so much that I might want to live there.
Are extended visas easy to get?
Is this program internationally recognized in comparison to the one’s often heard about?
Is it possible to earn a masters in TESOL from your institution?
What transportation do most students use?
When a student is placed for teaching as part of the certificate, is transportation provided, and if not, how do the students get to their locations?
What are the specializations that make up the hours above the minimum 120? Is one of the Business? Adults?
    Thank you,

    1. Hi Nicole,

Thank you for your inquiry! Costa Rica is a great place to teach and travel whether you choose to do it short term or stay forever. Our certificate is recognized internationally and we have graduates working all over the world. We are not able to offer a Masters in TESOL, but we can provide guidance on programs in Costa Rica or the US. Most students choose to use the public bus system to get around the country. This includes the original travel to Samara for the four week course as well as travel to a job after graduation. Other options include shared or private shuttles and taxis. The course content includes many different modules including classroom management, multiple intelligences, lesson planning, and of course English grammar and pragmatics. In addition there is a short module geared toward English for Specific Purposes (which would include Business English). All of the practice teaching hours (minimum 8, maximum 20) are done with local teens and adults.

I hope this information has been useful! Please contact us at for further information or to request an application.

  10. Hi, I am looking to take a TEFL-TESOL class at the graduate level that will transfer credit back to my University in Colorado towards an ESL endorsement. Would your school offer this or could you direct me to someone who might?
    Thank you for your help,

    1. Dear Kat,

Thank you for your interest! Our course would not likely transfer, as we are not affiliated with any university. Rather, we are a TEFL certification course that provides students a direct certificate which they may use to begin teaching English as a Foreign or Seconed language immediately. You might look at the CELTA program offered through Cambridge University. I hope this has been of help.

      Take care,
