Update from October 2014 graduate Stephanie Battista!

We recently received an update from our recent graduate Stephanie Battista. She graduated from Costa Rica TEFL in October of 2014, and has since been teaching in the Central Valley area of Costa Rica. Here’s what she has to say:

I’m currently working for English2Go, a company based in Heredia that sends English teachers to various business offices around the central valley. I’m currently working 20 hours a week with six different classes between two businesses. I have both private and group classes with varying levels of English. I love the variety of my classes, every class is truly different. Also, my company allows me the freedom to be creative and use some of my own activities to teach my classes. Furthermore, I couldn’t be happier with my students. If I’m being honest, I’ve always taught kids and teens and never was keen on the idea of teaching adults, but now that I am I couldn’t love it more! There are many advantages to teaching adults that I never realized until I started teaching them, such as the fact that you can develop friendships with them, which I have! This week I hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at my house with a group of seven Ticos, including some of my students. Everyone loved the food, especially my pumpkin pie. Since Thanksgiving is a holiday unique to the United States, I loved having the opportunity to introduce and educate others about it! Overall, I’m happily settled in Heredia. When I’m not working, I take day trips to nearby national parks, visit local markets, and practice my Spanish with my Tico friends. All is well here in the Central Valley.
