Jamela Mohamed graduated from Costa Rica TEFL September 2017. After completing the course she took a trip to the other side of the world and set her luggage down in South Korea.

Jamela is currently working in Jeju Island, South Korea. The island boasts a beautiful volcanic landscape and a humid, sunny climate. Jamela works at JEJU Foreign Language Institute teaching ESL to adults and K-12 students.

Jamela reflects on the ways in which she utilizes her TEFL training, “Costa Rica TEFL gave me the skills I needed to teach ESL classes. I have full control of my classrooms but I also have to create daily lesson plans. Additionally, and more importantly, I must know how to effectively teach those lessons. I learned how to do this and more with Costa Rica TEFL.”

During the weekends, Jamela explores both the city and the natural sights,  “There are so many waterfalls and beaches near my house. The bustling street market has many things to offer like fresh seafood, clothes, and hot meals that you can take on the go.” Be sure to follow her instagram (@milakulahaa) feed which features her day to day life in South Korea, her classroom and her charismatic, persona with a smile like no other!

Jamela is enjoying her teaching career and plans to continue in South Korea until her next big professional pursuit. ”I would love to continue teaching on the island for the next two or three years, “explains Jamela, “Then I would like to apply for law school. My goal is to become a lawyer.”

We are thrilled to have had Jamela in our TEFL course, and are looking forward to updates!
