ADULT STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT 

As participants in the Costa Rica TEFL training program, we believe you have the right to feel comfortable and safe in our school community. The Costa Rica TEFL Code of Conduct sets clear standards of behavior that apply to all individuals involved in our school including staff, trainees and adult EFL students.. These standards apply whether individuals are on school property or at school-sponsored events. 

● All students and staff members are to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin, color, ethnic origin, citizenship, economical status, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status or disability.. 

● All adult members of our school community have the responsibility to act as models of good behavior. As such, rude behavior, (name-calling, disrespectful language and shouting etc.) gossip and bullying are not appropriate. 

● Inappropriate behavior or harassment of any kind towards a student, trainee, teacher or guest will result in immediate intervention up to and including expulsion from the school and/or police intervention. This type of behavior includes but is not limited to violence, harassment or intimidation by note, email, words, gestures and/or body language. 

● No weapons are allowed on school property or at school functions. The consequences for failure to comply will include but is not limited to the student’s expulsion from the program.

● Consumption of alcohol or drugs while in classes or before teaching is strictly prohibited. 

● The privacy and confidentiality of our students, teachers and staff members is important to us. As such, we ask that all concerns and comments be addressed directly and immediately with the school Director. 

This Student Code of Conduct must be adhered to by any and all adults that are involved in the Costa Rica TEFL program.
