Teaching in Costa Rica in 2021

Angelica enjoying the lovely Jaco beach

Angelica is a graduate of our February TEFL program who is currently working in Jaco, Costa Rica teaching the English language to preschool students and making an impact on young lives.

She initially became TEFL certified because of her love for learning about new cultures and passion for teaching. She chose Costa Rica TEFL as a way to explore that passion because of positive reviews from past graduates and all of the support she’d received from our team in helping her arrive in Costa Rica.

Having gained a lot of confidence as she taught more and more classes, Angelica is a very energetic and compassionate teacher that makes sure students are engaged and ready to learn while having fun!

Angelica says that one of the most important things she’s learned while completing the TEFL course is that you must be an engaging teacher with student-centered activities when teaching a language. She is completely right! It’s important to keep the students interested and have a positive and comfortable learning community built within the first few minutes of having the student walk into their classroom.

“The best experience was meeting amazing people throughout the course. We have all now become like a second family and the best possible teachers!”

Our certified teachers come out of CRTEFL at the end of their course with professional experience, an internationally accredited certificate, and forever friends. It is always a pleasure to watch students bond while completing challenges and overcoming obstacles together.

“To make a great teacher, you must have patience, positive energy, and compassion. That’s how I always teach in my classrooms, showing patience and full fun energy. I make sure to show compassion to every student, as they are all starting at different levels.”

If you are a future student thinking about taking our course in Playa Samara, Angelica encourages you first to “Do it!” And second, to ”enjoy every positive experience throughout”. It was a pleasure to have you Angelica, and we are SO proud of where you’re taking your TEFL certification!

Students learning by doing:

Like Angelica and many others, you could be teaching students in person at a school, or continue your travels and teach online. If you want to work and travel, teaching abroad may be perfect for you! Whatever you wish to do, let Costa Rica TEFL be a part of that journey.
